I’m not a pro poker player but would like to play some poker in vegas. Where is there a place to play for a beginner like me?

If you have a solid tight aggressive game you can do well about anywhere.

The Bellagio is regarded as the best players in town, but it has a lot of really bad players too because everybody wants to go play there. It’s really crowded and the tables are too close together, so there is not much room. You will also have to wait at least 30 minutes to get on a table.

Ceasar’s has a big spacious room with many tables. Not sure what limit games they have but they do have $1/2 NL.

The Alladin has a new room, but I haven’t been to it yet. They usually have smaller buy in’s to the cash games. They also have a 2 a.m. tournament for $30. I thought the blinds went up a little too fast though.

Imperial palace has a pretty soft $2/4 limit game, but they only have about 4 or 5 tables. It’s also good to play when they open the room for the day because all the people that took the "Learn how to play" class will play and give their money away.

You can go to cheapovegas.com and click on any casino and it will tell you all about every poker room that you want to know about. It will even tell you what games they have and what type of players.

The Sunday game at the Luxor is quite good for beginners. The 1st hour is run as limit poker so you won’t get busted out early and then it changes to no limit.

I prefer Mandalay Bay, but the blinds start at 4/8 and up. Luxor has a 2/4 table. Bellagio has a nice atmosphere but it’s usually very crowded and the blinds start at $4/8 there and significantly higher. I also like MGM grand.

    My favorites
    1) Mandalay Bay – comfortable, good atmosphere, and a snack bar right within walking distance
    2) Luxor – loose players but Richard "Dick" the guy that makes change is a jerk. The dealers aren’t very nice.
    3) MGM Grand – nice tables and atmosphere
    4) Bellagio – nice tables and atmosphere but often very busy

Sahara has a decent tournament. Forgot the times. I don’t like Luxor tournaments because they don’t give you enough chips and the blinds go up very quickly. Also not a lot of players play on the nightly tournaments.

I live and work as a dealer in Vegas and i do love the Sahara tournament a lot the times are at 11am 7pm and 11pm. The buy in is 42 dollars for 3000 chips and you get a re-buy for 20 bucks and you get 2000 chips. the blind go up every 20 min and you get most night around 100-150 people and first place pays out 2800-3500 bucks. I also love Cesar’s as well with the buy-in being 80-50 in the morning and 120-100 at night.
