LMFAO. you can disable them, you know

This is excellent analysis but for lower stakes, people often bet big on the river with the nuts. They don’t know what a value bet is.

one of the most useful and informative videos by one of the most consistent players.

no disrespect, you just called every street with 77
and you included a K and J in his range, but you call anyway. Then a A comes up completes a flush and you say he could have flush, which is what he reps, but you call anyway.
You don’t really mention what you think he thinks you have, which is a good question in this spot.
I respect your game but I’m not sure why you’d play this hand after turn and even call a river bet. Of course the results pan out, but the line villain takes does not.

No, his point is the LAGtard is not gonna value bet the K or the J anymore on the river, maybe he doesnt even bet sets or two pair. Plus the A diamonds takes away a ton of flush hands his opponent has, so the range changes on the river. The comments this guy is making are brilliant!

@madridisinSpain
Ok – but still, he makes no mention of
what he thinks villian thinks HE has. This
is a huge question. What would he call
with? We have perfect knowledge here
since we see the cards. Phil just calls
which seems like he has a small pair.
Villain could very well have semi bluffed
a flush. Just calling seems weak to me.
Again, I respect Phil but I’m just not feelin’
it with this hand.
I can call with 77 all day and lose every
one with the same board.

I’m a good poker player. I mean, I tough being a good one before seeing that
March 20th, 2010 at 1:25 am
This is a perfect example: I had 66 in multiway pot where LAGTARD raises on button, with T9s flop [KK2] , LAGTARD bets I call , turn [4] bets pot, i call . River [A] villan goes all-in and I FOLD (Yes I folded) THAT was the mistake b/c the A is taking away lots of value bets(QQ, JJ, TT etc) so its more likely to be bluffing. Phil Galfond would called and the rest of us wouldnt, and thats why he makes $7million a year and we dont. You see the point now?

Im sure phil is right but why is the c/c standard on the flop? im just reading sklansky and he says OOP with a marginal hand its usually better to bet, plus we give him the chance of taking a free card and spiking a 8,9,T,J,Q.A. so basically we give him the option of imprving for free and if he has a K he was going to bet anyway. if he doesnt it makes it hard for him to raise us. thoughts?

what does he mean by fake played? im just a little confused how they make this as an example when its real money.
really really enjoy the vid though on how to pick apart a 3-barrel bluff

I was in a situation like this against a LAG last night, not as strong of a hand though, and if I went through the thought process that Phil does I would’ve made the right decision and a great play imo. Ugh, Phil’s philosophical view towards the game is extremely helpful though and how easy he makes it understood.
Would like to hear more about a sample hand in PLO too.
May 6th, 2010 at 4:15 am
Well in my view is standard because he’s playing it for set value. It all depends who you play. Im no one to give a “philosophy” or to instruct im just 17, but yeah Phil played it perfectly. I really liked the way he used the Ace to his advantage cause if he had King, it would of been played differently or if Jack. At 1st i put him on Q-9 but it he showed the 8-6.

fake play doesn’t mean it’s set up. how do you think they can set up the cards being dealt on full tilt? lol.
when they say fake play they mean they are not playing returning each other the money later. but for the purpose of the video they will each play their best.
